My son got his first bike last night. A 2002 1100 Honda Shadow Aero (sorry kz'ers)

It has engine bars front and back that have some rust on them plus rust on covers, etc.

What can we use to remove the rust? Light steel wool, something else? Is there anything to treat the equipment with afterwards?
Thanks for the help.

For light surface rust (you aint gonna believe this one), soak some fine steel wool overnite in Coca-Cola.
Scrub the rust off with that, (whatever is in the Coke busts surface rust pretty good!), then use Mothers Polish or Semichrome (sp?) paste to really bring out the shine. NevrDull wadding polish is good too.
Heavier-than-light rust on the chrome....hmmm....I never had much chrome, so never hadda deal with that. Perhaps others will chime in.
Kawasaki Motorcycles...because cars lean th wrong way!

So far, it seems to be just surface rust on everything. Need to get a better look at things though.
