DOes anyone know how (short of buying one) I could find out if a seat from a 1981 kz1100 would fit on my 1982 1000LTD? I want to get rid of the king/queen aspect of the seat and the 1100's seems to do that. If the pan is the same then it will let me either find one on ebay or buy the replacement cover for a 1100 and modify my seat to have it fit.

They're not the same, I can guarantee that much. Whether it may fit? no way to tell without trying. If the 1981 is not a LTD, no way. If the 1981 is also a LTD, chances are slim, but possible. Kawasaki didn't make any seats that I know of that would swap between different CC models, and even models whithin the same cc and model year they would rarely even get close to mounting up.
