I'm putting a set of drag bars on my bike and need shorter cables. The ones I have are already about 6 inches too long with my superbike bars. Any idea what will work? Maybe a 650 or something?

Do your best to get a measurement of what you need. Maybe unhook the end of your current cable by the grip, and see how much is extra? Give yourself enough slack to turn the bars left/right and not bind.

Then email Z1enterprises and ask them if they carry any cables in that new length.

Don, I think the Z1 cables are actually shorter than the KZ650 cables. Also, there's still people out there that will make (or shorten) a cable for you. Checkin' with Jeff's a good idea though.

Z1R cables work about as good as any for this application.

Check with your local dealer and see if they can get Barnett cables, possibly from KK Motorcycle Supply (a distibutor). I bought a couple clutch cables for KZ's that were made specifically for bike with lower bars. I'm not sure if I found throttle cables but I recently put drag bars on the Zed Sled and routed them to the left of the steering stem and around that way. It provides a larger arc and made the throttle easier to turn. Good luck!

I can check with Bent Bike here in Kent, I have a couple friends working there.
I will take my 900 over and they will look through their stock supply of them.

Something around $10-14 each.
Mine are too long also, as is my brake line from the master (but I have that covered already).

I may possibly already have some of the cables, Hopefully the more expensive clutch cable.

I had the same problem with my 750LTD. I took the bike to a mechanic and he was able to find one from their stock that fit. I neglected to ask which bike that cable was supposed to be for though.:pinch: Sorry I know that doesn't help much. BUT! When he was originally telling me that it was going to take a month to get in custom cables I did my own searching and found that Motion Pro will make you a set to custom length.

I use Z1R cables on my bike with Superbike bars. Perfect set-up as the Z1R came with clubman style bars from the factory.

Hey thanx guys! I guess I'll start looking around now that I have some ideas. Hey racer how about some info on your bike. I'll be getting in the pro E/T class next year and need to steal some ideas from your bike.
