I will attach more photos later from underneath the rear tail to show you what I am working with. I attached one I have for now-see rear tail mod.

But I am wondering if anyone can please help me out:
I have a 1980 KZ 650 F1, & P.O. removed rear chrome fender, then welded the tail light onto the tube frame under the tail. It just kind of looks bad-the tail light is pointing down. I just got a replacement fender & light assembly for my exact bike. I have the tools available to cut the welds. I just don't know what the original should look like underneath before I cut anything to see if they removed other vital frame work to modify it to this. I do not, however, have welding equipment available if they did remove other vitals.

Which is why:

1. Could someone please take some photos underneath of their rear fender that is still in original condition with the chrome fender so I can compare to mine?
A. Would like location pic where chrome fender is bolted underneath. I have 2 spots available, but not sure if it is the front or back holes to align.
B. Not sure if just those two bolts would be sufficent with the weight of the fender and the light! Would like to know where else the fender is attached to. PLEASE?!
C. I found some original pictures, but they don't show enough detail. I see I also have to move the turn signals back onto the red light's frame.

Any other information would be appreciated, THANK YOU!.

I believe the fender is only held on by those 2 bolts (I'll check tonight).
There is a black metal piece that attaches to the rear fender for the taillight and license plate, looks like that is what the PO welded on.
The turn signals are suppose to be on the side of tailpiece right where they are.
Make sure you remove that chain during the preflight inspection!

great, thank you, here is the original picture I was refering to-unless it's a different year? see red arrow, is this significant to hold the chrome fender? -because I don't have it. Just came to mind- or are they just sissy bars?

Looks to be just a grab bar for the passenger to me.
I would think that the mounting points for the fender would be up under the tail section.

Your turn signals in the advertisement look different than mine, so I may be wrong. Mine's a 77 and they are mounted like fixer's.

thanks everyone for the pics! I think I can figure out how to replace the fender now with the submitted pictures. I think it will be a fall project though-I'd rather ride it for now instead of having it in pieces until I have more time to complete it in one weekend :)

I have a '79 650B that the tail section is off of right now. I can take a pic of that if you'd like.
