Hi ya'll, been a while since I have posted in the forums, but I am in dire need of some new shocks for my bike. I have an 82 KZ550C, and have heard that sporty shocks will work. My question is what kind of modifications will I have to do to make the sporty shocks work. I do have access to a welder and am very mechanically inclined. Thanks!

I guess there is nothing ya'll can suggest, so I will just purchase myself a set of take-offs from ebay and install a set of sporster shocks. Thanks for looking.

Keep in mind that most people on here don't have a KZ550C so we can't help. And I'd guess the number of people that have put Sportster shocks on a KZ550C approaches zero, so I guess you get to lead the way :)

Someone always has to be the first :D

I have been doing some research on replacing the shocks on my KZ 550 with Sportster shocks. What I have been able to find is that #1 you have to get the Sportster shocks that are 13.5 inches eye-to-eye (unless you are looking to lower the rear of the bike. #2 You will also need to swap out the bushings in the eyes of the shocks as the KZ is metric so the mounting bolt won't fit properly. #3 The last hindeance is that the shock mount on the swingarm may need to be spread to accept the eye of the Sportster shock. I hope this helps, and if you find any other info beyond this I'd sure appreciate your sharing. ;)
