If no one else answers by tomorrow I'll see if I can dig out the 78-79 KZ650SR front end that's stashed in the garage somewhere and get the measurements.

The upper tube is threaded at the top and I don't have any way of measuring the ID below the threads. OD is 36mm in case you need it.

ID of the spring is 15.88mm
OD of the spring is 24.66mm

ID of the dampener rod is 12.33mm at the seal end.
OD of the dampener rod at the seal end is 24.33mm

I don't know what you mean by "flat top style" though.

Hope that helps :)

I Steell, thats just what I need, thanks very much :)
I will email race tech and give them the sizes and they will let me know which one to use.
The flat top style is what come of the older bikes use where the damping tube protrudes through a the top seal bush, all the jap bikes have the cupped one.
Can you please tell me what teh site is that has all the part numbers etc on it per model?
I though it was buy kawasaki but didnt find it, I just want to confirm that hte SR and the B2 have the same forks although Im 90%sure tehy do.
Thanks again
Cheers

www.buykawasaki.com/Default.asp?
Click on "Order Service and Owners Manuals for your Kawasaki More info", then click on the top "Continue" button and the rest is fairly obvious.

Steell, could you please recheck the id of the dampner rod, if you could have a look at the emulator at the link that i've attached in the previous email and comfirm that the ID of the dampner rod as 12.33 seems small

Thanks

Cheers

I had a look and it seems to me that it is a "Flat top" and they want the tube ID, and that's the figure I posted. There is no "cup" on top of the rod, it's flat and has a split washer like seal that fits in a groove.

I wasn't sure the image would post, but it did :)

That's pretty much what it looks like, a hair less than 1/2" ID.
