Output sprocket identity ('84 GPz750)
26 Oct 2026 10:32 - 26 Oct 2026 10:33
Hi - I am looking at the different aftermarket drive chain sprockets I can find locally, and see that one front sprocket suggested for my '84 GPz 750 has type designation "JTR510.15".
At JT Sprockets website, this sprocket is listed to fit the GPz 750 Turbo model.
When checking various part diagrams from < www.kawasaki.com/ >, I see different part numbers for several bikes which, (based on my experience with many different BMW boxers, that share identical parts through a wide range of model and model years) actually could be identical. E.g.:
Model part #
84 GPz Turbo 13144-1102
84 GPz 750 13144-1084
82 KZ 750 13144-1033
So my simple question is, are the sprockets for the above bikes actually, from the aftermarket suppliers point of view, identical, or interchangeable?

Identical: no
The Zx750A uses a front sprocket with a relatively large offset. The Zx750E Turbo has wider gears and the output shaft is longer so the front sprocket doesn’t need offset. Not sure about the Kz750 though. I’m sure the spline design and count are all the same but putting a Turbo sprocket on your N/A model is going to move your chain line up front.

Without having the suggested parts in front of me, so I can check what the alignment of the final assembly will be, I'm going to look elsewhere for parts.
