83 GPZ 750 chain conversion

Tackling a final problem while I wait for my fork rebuild to get here, chain conversion with this nonsensical offset front sprocket. I'd really like to get a 520 if possible, will do a 530 if that's easier, but after taking off the old rusty 630 chain I really don't want to put that back on. Unfortunately my bike is not currently in a position for me to mock up new sprockets so I'm curious how others have done it. I've seen some people say you can use spacers behind a flat sprocket and make it work, I've seen some posts from 10-15 years ago about people making custom offset ones. Any insight would be appreciated

Why do you need an offset sprocket ???
Like for like 630 and 530 chains are the same width.
It's the pitch that is different.
If the stock sprocket has an offset then get hold of a JT sprockets catalogue which lists measurements, fitments and offsets for most bikes which may have a 530 alternative to what you have, possibly from a ZR750 or similar.
Failing that a simple spacer behind a flat sprocket will do the job depending on the offset needed and whether the output shaft is long enough.

Because the 83-85 GPZ 750 has an offset front sprocket

Then any replacement sprocket if supplied for the right bike should meet factory off set specs

I'm aware of how a chain conversion works. I'm looking to see if anybody still makes the correct sprockets or what bike they can be sourced from because JT only makes a 630 
 

Not sure where in the world you are ? there are kits listed to convert to 530 but these mainly seem to be from European suppliers so if you are in the US shipping and tariffs will make it expensive

I've just been through my own JT catalogue and there's nothing remotely close to the GPZs JTF514 front sprocket in either 520 or 530 pitch with the correct offset and Z13 spline so unless someone else out there is making a specific conversion kit you will have to either have a custom sprocket made, make your own or stick with the stock 630..

I sourced a couple of sprockets from PBI (RIP 2022). So you may be able to find some on eBay sporadically.  As a matter of fact, I have a 1/4” offset 17T 530 front sprocket of their’s on my Gpz750 project right now.   I also found a 520 front sprocket from Sunstar on Webike Japan.   It’s offset and meant fora Suzuki Gs but I needed it for the Ducati GT1000 wheels on my Kz1000 build. It wasn’t terribly expensive but I ordered before Trump’s second term so your result may vary.

If your bike is a "uni-trak" this seems to be the only one that might do it (there are a couple of other suppliers for the twin shock R1 GPZ)

If your bike is a "uni-trak" this seems to be the only one that might do it (there are a couple of other suppliers for the twin shock R1 GPZ)

This is for a 750 turbo which does not have an offset sprocket
