1982 KZ750 CSR Fuel Tank/Fork Holder question

Hello,

As the title says, I have an 82 KZ 750 twin (M1/CSR).  I don't have the original tank (I was given the bike as-is) so I found and bought a tank that is in great condition, but it's from the KZ 750 B model (I don't know for sure what year, I believe they are all the same).  I like the look of that tank better than the original M version.  I want to fit the tank to my bike, but I am aware that the fork holders on the M models are very straight and may not provide enough clearance for the tank.

Does anyone know if the fork clamps off of the B model will fit the M?  Is that even a good idea, or should I consider moving the tank mounts instead?  Or, perhaps clearance won't really be an issue (I don't have the tank yet, but want to make plans for when I get it.)

Any information is appreciated.  I have searched the forums and have found a limited amount of information, but did not find anything with these specific models.

Thank you,
Chris

You would need to use "B" forks together with the "B" tree's (fork holders) The "B" has more "off-set" in the tree's which reduces "trail". The CSR uses "leading axle" forks which reduce "trail". If you use CSR forks in "B" tree's you will reduce the trail to a point where the bike is likely to be unstable at speed and the steering will be sensitive to bumps, surface changes etc

Thank you.  I guess I'll wait and see what the clearance looks like before jumping into another purchase!

Yes, I'll have to modify the frame a little bit.  I'm going to try to make it work because I haven't run across any other tanks that weren't in horrendous condition.
