Tires for 1980 Kawasaki LTD 1000 and where to buy them
Yesterday 18:07
The front is 100/90 - 19 (Carlisle TransMax currently) and the rear is 130/90 - 16 (Bridgestone Mag-Mopus currently). The tires on there are very old so I need to replace them. I believe the rims require tubes. Will a tire listed as tubeless still work?
I hadn't seen recent posts on tire purchase and wanted to get a few options. Do they make white raised letter anymore?

If the rims are stock they are tubeless. My 1980 LTD is tubless stock rims.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar.

I like American Moto Tire. Free shipping.
Shinko 712 is the value leader. They stick decently. Not the longest life. I'd stay away from Dunlop 404 or any Kenda. Not great tires.

Shinko ís your best bet. I have been running them on all of the vintage bikes and they have been pretty decent tires. I used to go with Avon but cant find them anymore.

Since about year 2004, i ride Bridgestone BT 45 / later BT 46 in dimensions 100/90-19 front, and 120/90-18 rear on all my kwakas = Z1B and Z1000`s,.. and i am very happy with them, good handling and "glued on the asphalt" on windy roads(....but they doesn´t look "wide and big", so as most people prefer the look-a-like more than the handling it seems...)
Greetings, Joe

Bridgestone Spitfires were the last RWL tires we've bought in those sizes. It's been a while. Don't know availability now.

I would not buy any of the cheap ass tires listed here. I do Bridgestone BT-46s on all my bikes and they are great, round and nice.

I prefer Bridgestone's Battlax, it is the original tire for my 2010 Ninja ZX-14. I figure that if Bridgestone Battlax is able to handle my Ninja ZX-14, it should handle without any issues my 1978 KZ1000 LTD. I usually buy my tires at CycleGear. If you bring them the loose wheels off the bike, they install and balance them for around $25 per wheel. I may be wrong, but I think Cycle Gear offers free standard shipping on all orders over $49.99
