13 Sep 2025 13:51 - 13 Sep 2025 14:01
Found an OEM kawasaki solution to keeping the clutch cable from cooking on the headers. I think its off of a W800 plus a ton of other models.

Re: OEM solution to securing clutch cable
13 Sep 2025 14:46I suppose I should clarify that I used these clamps on a '75 Z1.Z1's and the KZ's used them, too
I hadn't realized this was common knowledge.

Re: OEM solution to securing clutch cable
13 Sep 2025 16:10 - 13 Sep 2025 16:12So I learned something today... the Z1 came with clutch cable clamps. I got mine from the original owner and it had some hose clamps holding the cable in place instead.... never seemed right to me.[attachment=179633]Screenshot 2025-09-13 154106.png[/attaattachment
I just looked up that part number and those metal clamps seem pretty primitive compared to the later W800 ones I found.
Regardless, this is some good info.

Primitive because the original Z ones didn't have that vulcanized rubber wrap? Other then that wrap they look identical, nice OEM find though. Unfortunately you might find that rubber coating a disadvantage. Sitting soo close to the exhaust headers that rubber will brittle-up quickly because of all the heat.

As far as I remember the Z1's only used one clamp on the clutch cable. They were not rubber coated, but I use a rubber coated one to protect the frame paint.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar.
