1980 Z1R D3 Wheel Size
30 Aug 2025 07:57
This z1r d3 basket case really is full of surprises. I believe the PO or the PPO put on an Ltd front wheel. It’s 19x1.85 in the front and 18x2.15 in the rear. Can someone confirm the front and rear sizes?

I think you´re right with the 19 x 2.15 wheels size.
( Early D1 models have 18 x 2.15 on the front,..and after some handling problems at high speed, Kawasaki changes the size up to 19 x 2.15!)

Thanks Joe! Yeah, I figured something was off when I noticed the fonts were different. Thanks for helping me take another step in setting this bike up right

Sorry, doubting Thomas here!
The same part number wheel is used across many different models, and none of those, to my knowledge, use a 2.15 wheel. I suspect the front is a common 1.85 x 19.

So, clay, are you suggesting that all those different model bikes, highlighted using the same PN wheel, also use a 19 x 2.15? Hum. I feel cheated. My 750 has a 2.15 rear, but the front is 1.85. It's odd for both wheels to be the same width.

I do not know about the width of the wheels. The parts lists on the Kawasaki.com site indicate an 18 in tire is used on the D1 in front, and a 19 in tire is on the front for D3. I do find it of interest that there is no info on the size of the wheels?

Yesterday 09:19Ed, you are the winner here. It is 19x1.85. I looked at a more pristine example of the D3 and the wheel is stamped 19x1.85
