Blocking off old front wheel speedometer cable connection

Hi,

I’ve converted to a modern speedometer with a proximity switch on the rear wheel, and I want to block off the cable connection on the front wheel to prevent water from getting in.I was thinking of using a round plate and a nut, or something similar.

I still have the rest of the old speedo cable, so maybe I can reuse the nut, fit a round plate inside it, and seal it with some liquid gasket?

Might be able to use some sort of vacuum nipple cap.  Get one that’s pretty rubbery and it should stretch over.

You could remove the nut from an old speedometer cable and cut a small round out of gasket material.

That was my orginal idea also, maybe that will be the most permanent solution…
