This might fall on deaf ears but anybody a "real" restorer/owner interested in retaining their Date-Coded rear shocks?? Or is everyone just wanting cheap/shiny aftermarket ones? I redo mine, if damper still dampens and piston rod isn't all rusty or worn whereas the seal pukes out fluid. Also, does anyone know of a place in the US that does POP? POP is short for plating on plastic and needed for the plastic reflector shrouds. Reason
is i'm sending out a box full of the original springs to have re-chromed, curious about interest here??

I have been guilty of just buying the reproductions shocks but have also taken apart stock ones and cleaned them up if they are reasonable. On the Kawasaki Z Classic forums there was a lot of conversation about re-chroming the plastic shrouds and the only place was in Australia that would or could do them. Not saying there might be places in the states. Cost is the main issue as chroming has been getting extremely expensive. What is the cost for the springs and bodies.

Cool, at least some "fellas" that don't go to the darkside and know what i'm talking about!! McDroid, have a source in of all places, St. Louis, Mo that said he could redo the springs for 45.00 ea. That's like 1999 prices!! My former chrome fella, BUB, retired and had gotten the St Louis number from them. Bub had a tendency to "over-plate" if that makes sense? Did great on the springs but covered and over-chromed the dampers and tension selectors. I've been in constant contact with these "new" fellas and explained what was required. Yet to see a final issue of anything but...Hopeful.. Crazy, You went rouge, ha. I purchase the front fork tubes from Tanner too but will never purchase rear shocks. But have known persons short cutting and have. NOT to defame them fellas and super Sweet receptionist gal you talk to when ordering but the rubber on both ends i've found to be too soft, quick to disintegrate or collapse under load. But..Hey what do you expect for 99dollars, he.

There is a place in Australia that will rechrome the plastic covers. I'll have a look through my records to find it, but I'm on vacation right now and my not have the records handy.
