Ok, I think I still want new shocks, it's easier for me.  Still looking for opinions on new shocks.

What's your budget? Options include Progressive, Hagon, Ikon, YSS, and various high end choices like Olins, Racetech, ect.

No real budget, I can spend what I want.  That said, I don't really ride that much anymore, maybe 2-3000 miles a year.   I don't think I need high end shocks.  A suitable stock replacement would be ok with me.  I've been looking more and I still like the Ikons and also the progressive 12 series:

750 R1, Thanks but that’s not the type that came on the 1976 LTD Kz900, Appreciate your time.
Yeah, I know, the point of the links, especially the Aussie ones , was that virtually any shock is rebuildable, anything that can be put together can be pulled apart, you just have to go to the right place, or do it yourself, they really aren't that hard to pull apart, some sort of spring clamp will help, even big zip ties work.  Most seals are relatively easy to source, I've done some weird combinations of wheels and things and have never failed to find seals yet, bearings is a different story but i've ended up lucky there too..
If you can't do it yourself, look around, if I can find a couple of shops here in Australia that rebuild all shocks, there's bound to be way more in the US, I generally have to source everything overseas, our market is tiny and run by highway robbers, trying to get customers to fund their pensions....

I understand what your saying and I’ll leave it at this so as to not hijack the thread. My mullholland are welded sealed cartridge. I was hoping to find a direction on having that style rebuild.  Thanks for the leads

Yes, there are a lot of choices in the U.S. for shocks that are rebuildable.

Has anyone tried these ones from Z1 Enterprises? www.z1enterprises.com/rr-shocks-kz900-1000-chrome.html They look closest to OEM for my bike.

I've  had a pair which may be 12.5 inch on my 750 for at least 10 years. A lot firmer than the old stock ones they replaced and for what I do they have been just fine. They are made by FORSA in Taiwan. Look closely for the "F" on the lower part of the shock. Google Forsa mdi

I finally made my purchase.  I called Ikon and spoke to Roger.  Technical guy who really knows his products.  I was going to buy the Basixs but due to material shortages they were not available, so I buy the next model up the 7610 dial a rides.  Probably a more fancy shock than I need, but I am sure I will be happy with them.  Roger told me he would do all the setup and all I would need to do is bolt them on.  I'll reply back here after I get them on and ride them.

Interesting comments 750.  The only shop I know of that resurfaces the tops of Z1 carbs is located in Adelaide.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

The new icons were a snap to put on.  Seems to have raised the ride height, probably back to what it should be.

Rebuilding two '79 KZ750 B4 twins... reading up on the rear shock options.  Looking for mid price range at best, mostly commuter bike.  Hagon vs YSS reviews? Ikon Dial-a-Ride seem out of my price range.   Anybody here recommend a certain dealer of said shocks?

I put Hagon shocks on my 1977 KZ650-C1 14 years ago (wow, time flies!).  They now have more than 17,000 miles on them and they still work and look like new.  I love them.  Ed
