I’m sure this has been asked a thousand times but I’m not having any luck searching. Hope I can get some help.
I have a KZ (frame VIN) Z1F513396 and engine number Z1E137864.
The title says 1977 Z1000 but for some reason, I thought it was a 900. Thanks in advance for any help.

Just to add some more info according to zedder.com the frame and engine numbers you posted fall within the numbers for the 1977 900 A5
zedder.com/Info/77%20KZ900-A5.htm

While the frame and engine numbers for the 1977 1000 A1 and the B1 both have 2 zeros to indicate they are 1000 ccs.

Thank you for your help! Pictures to come.
My father-in-law gave me this motorcycle about 15 years ago. He had the same motorcycle when he was younger so he purchased it knowing I would fix it up. He has since passed on and my wife and I are excited to put some love into it. It ran when I loaded it up years ago, but I could tell it needed some carburetor work.
What company makes the best service manual?
Also, parts sources? I am familiar with Z1 Enterprises, but I’m sure you guys have many more sources. Thanks so much for your help.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe best manual is the factory service manual. They come up on eBay now and then.

An ugly one.

Less ugly. Seller says it covers through 1977, but I would have him confirm that first . The back cover pic is blurry.

This site says you can download a black and white copy for $8.95. kz900.com/books/

Z1E is a good start.

Z1parts.net is able to fill in a lot of gaps. They have very quick shipping.

Diablo Cycle has a few bits that I haven't been able to source anywhere else.

Partzilla for new OEM parts.

And of course, eBay is your friend.

All good places, l would like to add.

redlinecycle.com/
www.z-power.co.uk/
z-fever.de/shop/en/
www.johnnysvintagemotorcycle.com/

And to add to kaylinator’s Partzilla, use it to find the oem part numbers, and the other bikes and years that use the same parts. Really aids in finding parts offered for different prices if you don’t want to buy directly from Partzilla.

Partzilla is a great resource. For hard to find or NLA items I will enter the part number in eBay and let it search automatically for me. I've scored a few hard-to-find NOS items that way but it helps to be patient.
