Hi guys,

Rebuilding a 1982 GPz550, and all 3 brake pistons are pretty badly pitted.
Does anyone know if the pistons from the 84 are compatible? They're a lot more available for a few bucks less each than the '82.
If not, does anyone now if a direct caliper swap is possible between the 82 and 84? Ebay prices on 84 calipers are pretty close to the price for just new pistons.

Related, I see the calipers were redesigned in 84, were they improved significantly enough to think about swapping anyway?

Partzilla has a cross reference, and they're showing different part numbers for the pistons.
I don't know if they're interchangeable >> they use the same piston seal, but the dust seals are different.
The 82 oem pistons listed on partzilla are significantly cheaper than the 84. I did not check EB or Z1Enterprises.com.

Thanks, I noticed same, was wondering if anyone had tried it. Sometimes the parts will be compatible due to sourcing or machining or something, even if the numbers are different.
Though I didn't even look at the OEM pistons. I'll take a look.
