Hey folks,

I had to get confirmation that MotoGP Werks was remanufacturing Cal-Fab swingarms as seen in this article: www.motorcycle.com/top10/top-10-things-motogp-werks.html/8

Red got back to me, and yes indeed, he purchased the company and Cal-Fab swingarms are being manufactured once again!!!

The article is true, the price will be $599. A 150-series rear tire will fit easily.

Right now, they're only manufacturing a disc brake version for Z1s, unless they get 5 to 8 pre orders for the drum version. I'm interested in a drum brake version as I like the lines of the drum on the back of an old KZ, and I do not plan on ever doing a track day on the old bike.

I wanted to put out a feeler to see if anyone else was interested in a drum brake version as well. Let me know if you are!

Thanks!

If it has tits or tires, it'll give you problems!

The stock setup would bolt right on. If you wanted to run a wider tire, you'd have to get a wider rim and do the offset sprocket as you mentioned. Guys are putting 200 series tires on, so a 150/160 tire is completely possible.

Haha yeah, this is news to me! I've been concentrating on my ZRX lately, but as I finish the mods I intend to do to that, I'll start focusing on my KZ again. Miss my old gal!!!

Right on! Makes me sick that I sold a KZ900 after I put an original Cal Fab on it.

One thing to consider is persuading Red to attach brackets to mount a chain guard. Maybe most guys don't care but in Hawaii you're supposed to have a chain guard in order to pass the safety check. if you don't pass safety check, you can't register your bike.

mtb, this is EPIC NEWS!!! Thanks very much for posting this. I really love the extruded aluminum Calfab used and it looks like the new company is using the same stuff. I searched until the end of the internet looking for this material and then realized it must of been a custom batch order from a aluminum manufacturer. I hope the new company keeps high quality control and decent delivery schedules.

Thanks again!

I've been trying to find an updated price, unsuccessfully. I saw somewhere that they went up in price a bit, but I can't confirm it.
