OK, someone out there knows this....
What is the difference between the 79 KZ1000 A3 MKII rear brake pedal and the 1980 KZ1000 A4 brake pedal? The part numbers are different (43001-1030 vs 43001-1040). They use the same pedal return spring (92081-1046). Who's the KZ nut that knows this?? ;)
The Kaw List:
Current: 79 KZ1000 A3 MKII, 78 KZ1000 A2, 78 KZ1000 Z1-R, 78 KZ650 SR, 80 KE175

Kawasakis are like chevrolets many things interchange or will work, some need a little tweaking to work,so if it fits use it, we all love the kawis here but face it there are none worth a million bucks, they were a cheap jap bike and sometimes we have to resort to rubber bands and paper clips to "keep em runnin", so if you have a brake pedal that works use it.....as soon as you change the oil or plugs it is no longer original

By yimminy, that *is* interesting.

Wrankin' my brain, but can't think of why there'd be a difference.

The buykaw '79 Cop diagrams show 2 different numbers for the same bloody brake pedal.

And I've seen that before between different models/years, but there's only one way to be really sure.

If it's a really important detail, I can track it down on Fische on Tuesday...

Well, if you have time to look it up it would be great to find out. I am looking to buy a used brake pedal for my MKII (with better chrome) and have found one from a 1980 A4 (also fits B4). The A3 has a different number than these and I don't know why?? :S

In 1980 the rear brake master cylinder changed as well - Kawasaki went with a separate resevoir on the master cylinder and changed a few parts back in that area. I've not attempted to swap the parts - they probably will not fit without some minor mount modifications.

That makes sense. I knew that the 80 LTD model had the separate reservoir, so it's logical that the 80 A would have changed too. I was hoping the pedal had some minor change that wouldn't affect it's function, maybe a change in the knurl pattern or pad size or something superficial like that.
