Like many on this site, I am not satisfied with the kick stand on my bikes. They allow too much "lean". I have made sure they are tight in the mount, and they do not appear to be bent, but it still isn't the way I think it should be. Now, I could carry a block of wood with me to use when I park, but that is not too cool. Short of making a new kick stand that is a litle longer, what have others here done to improve upon the original design? Is there a kick stand from another bike that is longer, and will bolt right in? Do I get someone to weld a longer tip onto my stand? What?

If I remember right, the kickstand topic had a go-round awhile back- like what lean angle was correct. I had thought my bike was tilted over too far, even after I had dropped the forks and shocks an inch. Just for shits and giggles, I swapped in the sidestand from a junker I had, and the lean angle was much better. I'm not sure if the old one was bent or if there was a real difference in the two types.
I can give a hint to anybody switching them around though. Hook up the spring first, THEN pivot the stand into place to bolt to the frame. Easier than trying to pull the spring into place with pliers...

I'm thinking the same thing. I was going to pull mine off and see what can be done to keep it from extending so far out.

I think the kickstands from the KZ(not LTD) are a bit different...aren't they?
My kickstand(when it's down) is 10 and 1/2 inches from the center of the mounting bolt,to the ground...

I like a good bit of lean angle. That way you know it ain't going over with the slightest of bumps from a passerby. I keep a flattened pop can under seat for soft tarmac. It may not be cool but then coming out to find bike on side or big bleeding holes in your driveway ain't cool neither.

If I could make a suggestion?
Instead of a flattened pop can,
keep a Harley emblem with you:
1) They have to be good for something
2) It should be used to being covered in oil
3) People love Harleys

Sound logical?:P

JDA custom, a shop out of Iowa appears to have something that fits the newer Kaws. I emailed them to see if their existing part might fit our bikes, or if they plan to make one to fit our oldies.

They appear to be fairly expensive though!

They also don't have pics of this part. I asked them to send a couple in my email as well. I will post here when I hear back.

Check it out:
