Is anti-dive required?

18 Jan 2009 17:34

Hi guys, I have just fitted a HEL stainless steel brake system onto the front of my GPZ750 A1 1983 model.

Would these new lines bypass the anti-dive system and just go straight onto the caliper?

If so, will no anti-dive mechanism affect the handling of the bike in any way?

Many thanks in advance
Luke

On www.GPz550.com One member has bypassed the anti-dive system with great success here:

I have the parts, but haven't tride it yet. They are on my list of things to do on my GPz550.

There's a drawing of a block off plate here:

If you can't be bothered to make block-off plates just remove the tops of the anti-dive units, you can then use regular brake hoses straight to the calipers.

A set of progressive fork springs, with spacers, help too and mean you can forget about pumping the forks up with air to stop them bottoming out.

Yeah I am trying to get the block off plates made by a local CNC company here - should be done this week I hope.

It'd be nice if we could get the file at a bigger res or at least clear to read the measurements.
