KZ1000 - what year did they go tubeless?

I have purchased a 1980 KZ1000 B4 and was wondering if this was they year they started tubeless tires? No manual, and similar markings on the wheel as the 1979 - known tube type.

Are the tubeless wheels marked as such?

Any help from the experts appreciated;)

It will either say TL or tubeless on the wheel near the DOT stuff on one of the cast spokes.

79 KZ1000E model "ST" was tubeless. First KZ1000 to be so. The rest of the KZ1000 was 1981 when the J came out on cast wheels. 1980 LTD used tube type wheels. The LTD was always 1 to 2 yr behind in any upgrade at least, so it's entirely possible they were still tube till 1983.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Thanks!

Was hoping to shed the tubes, but I doubt I have any reason to...

This is an older thread, but I'm starting to replace my tires on a 1980 LTD 1000  B4.  It looks like the rear wheel is stamped TL but I'm not seeing the same on the front.  It also "appears" the rear valve stem is the tubeless type as the base is all rubber and pretty wide.  But the front looks to be on a tube, although the front does not have a lock nut to hold the tube in place. and could be a tubeless.   Won't know until I take it apart.      I don't think this bike could have swapped rims as it's been in my possession since 1987.

So could there  be tubeless rear and tubed front?

According to the OEM parts diagrams, your bike came with tubes front and rear.

My B4 is tubeless.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar.
