hey gang

bike has a bit of a splutter when on the throttle at mid - high rpms..

has backfired a couple times when tryiong to start it as well..

im replacing my plugs as soon as i finish posting here, and the points look like they are just about brand new..

so , im thinking i should go ahead and double check the ignition timing -just wondering what timing marks i should look to line up at idle , and advance..

thanks a bunch! Al

I just want to plant somewhere in the back of your mind....: it could be a failing coil....

But as to your timing question, I have a question for you: Do you have a service manual? Honestly I'm so pathetic I don't remember the marks, but there's a mark for ~1000rpm (idle) and a mark for ~3000rpm (full advance)....memory loss...

"F" mark at idle and the two lines at 3900 rpm.

Check coil, spark plug wires, and spark plug caps. ~17k ohms between the two spark plug wires, and ~3-4 ohms between the two small wires that attach to the coil.
