Alright, so came off the freeway and the bike started buckin like no gas. Long story short, figured out the bike thinks the kick stand switch is activated. When I put it in gear, it shuts off. I pulled the fuse and the bike runs fine, but no signals and other stuff connected to that fuse. Had another switch around, tried it. No luck. Do I just need to trace the wiring or is this a known issue with a known fix? The wires go into the bundle and I hate tearing that apart. Thanks all.

I'm confused - how does the fuse affect a kill switch?

If it *is* wiring, I always start my troubleshooting with a visual inspection, looking at bends and places that might get worn/bent over a suspension part or something, like around the headstock where lots of wires flex.

You can try cleaning the kickstand switch to get it in working order.

Or I would cut the switch out and connect the wires. Problem solved.

Kickstand Switch?!?! We don't need no stinkin' kickstand switch!!

I had that issue with my Virago. Since it sat outside in the weather for a whole year on the side stand when I bought it, it thought the sidestand was still down.Put it in gear it would die. Took the switch apart, sprayed some contact cleaner stuff I use called De-Oxit on the contacts, little rub with a soft wire brush. Put it back together and it has worked perfectly.

I've used electrical contact cleaner on mine and it worked for a while. I ended up replacing it because it still continued to fail. I would suggest just replacing just to be safe.

Fixed. I did try another switch but that one had been sitting. I just cut the wires, connected them to each other, done. I ALWAYS check my kick stand, habit. So, I'm not worried. Thanks all. Another caper closed by the KZ riders, love it..
