I bought what was left of a 1979 KZ1000 that apparently was a police bike in a former life. The speedometer has a small indicator light that is labelled "pursuit". Anybody know what it was for?

I think it flashes when the pursuit lights are on.

I remember someone saying there is a thing on cop guages that will tell you the top speed you went after it is set. Must be to give you the best ticket possible in a persuit. I'd like one of those.

Some of the older police models actually used 2 speedometers. One could be locked to "clock" a speeding motorist before they were pulled over. As mentioned, the indicator light was on when the officer used his pursuit lights.
