I have a light on my dash that lights up and says stop when i hit the brakes.I'm not sure why. Is this suposed to be a trouble light?Does this mean the brake light system is not working right?Or is it suposed to come on like this? My manual shows a brakelight warning switch on Canadian modles but I don't see anything on the bike. tTe bike is a 76 but the wireing seems to be 74?

It's working fine.
The light on your dash lights up when your brake light comes on. If your brake light fails, then the light on your dash is supposed to flash.
What the heck is a 1976 1135cc? Did that motor used to be a 900?

Hey Mark,

Well thankyou very much. I have a Z900 '76 as well that has that stupid light and I have spent hours thinking that it must be a low level switch or some other idiot light to indicate a failure in the brake system. I never bothered to chase it up but just accepted it. I plan to remove the bulb...

Funnily enough I bought my 900 in London, ON while living in Dorchester. I shipped it, and another, to New Zealand last December and just got it on the road. Poor ol darling is shocked at the curves and hairpins down here! Who did the engine work to your Z? Mike at Cycleworks (?) in Dorchester build a mean engine. Enjoy the summer...

A shop in Toronto called Winners Circle built it for Scott Goodyear the Indi car racer (now retired),and I Bought it from Scott back in 1980.I road it for a couple of years did some more work on it then got married and started a family. So i put the bike in the barn. now 22years latter im trying to resserect it.So far so good.Just some ellectrical bugs to work out, but it runs great!
