Well, that’s just how it goes, my friend—you can’t win ‘em all. But it wasn’t a huge amount; I paid 35 euros... I’m just chalking it up to my own stupidity for trusting the seller and buying a used ignition system like that—scammers are everywhere, after all ;-)

But there are worse things ;-)

Hi Cra-z1,

thank you for thinking about...Unfortunately, I have no chance of getting a pickup like that here in Germany! (I actually checked with the German distributor yesterday, but unfortunately, they can't help me.)

((- If there *is* a chance of shipping it to Germany, I would of course cover the associated costs—and you certainly don't have to give it to me for free ;-) ))
And, in case you're interested in a swap: I can offer you a manual timing chain tensioner for the Z900/Z1000—made of aluminum with a stainless steel bolt... I produced a small batch of them a few years ago, and I just found two more...or some bottom-screws for the early Z1 carbs....

I actually have a dynamic plate with the sensors and the china version. We sold 5 z1 bike to a guy and wouldn't you know he had two magnets fly off so I converted them all to points as he requested. I could send you the Dyna unit which ran fine until the magnet came off if you want to pay the frt. Or I would be interested in the carb drains. We could just trade if interested. On German ebay do you guys see the china knockoffs?

When you mention the ignition you're offering, do you mean a genuine Dyna unit (like the one in my photo) or a Chinese knock-off?

You can find those Chinese replicas on Amazon—labeled D1 and D2—selling for as little as 50 euros, but I don't think much of them; in my experience and that of people I know, they are simply too prone to failure and are built incredibly cheaply.

- If your ignition is a Dyna S, I’d be happy to trade it for the drain plugs; that way, we’d each only have to cover the shipping costs. Since it’s a gift valued under $100 USD, shipping it to the USA shouldn't be an issue, though upon receipt I would have to pay 19% tax on the declared value plus a DHL processing fee... It’s become a crazy, expensive, and complicated global world: instead of making things simpler and more affordable for citizens, everyone just dreams of "getting rich overnight"...

Yes I have 2 Dyna and 3 china units. I can send you one of the Dyna units. The only difference that is noticeable is the sticker which led us to try the china units. The only problem he had was the magnet coming off. However the ones we removed were operating properly.

That sounds good to me; we can certainly do that. You’ll get the float bowl drain screws from me—I had them made years ago... they’re the last ones I had lying around.

We can handle the rest via PM, okay?

Are there a lot of people out there still running an original Dyna S? My 77' KZ 1000 is still running an original old Dyna S and runs great.

The one (older design with large sensor) in my 73 Z1 is going on 15 years with 3ohm Dyna coils. I had a 74 a while back with a Martek ignition that was still operating properly. Remember those.

20 years with an old "DYNA 3" on my `75 Z1B, ( this one, with the little blackbox monted on frame-tube), without any problems!
