wiring loom cover material
Yesterday 13:08
hey y'all, my 76 KZ900 wiring loom has a mix of covers, i am guessing those that are continuous plastic tubes of differing sizes are the original, others are spiral wrapped electrical tape, see attached pictures, does anyone know where i can get the original continuous plastic tubes i would like to return it all to original ? many thanks

Regarding the tape, it's commonly glueless, with just a little regular adhesive type electrical tape on the ends to hold it together.

The tape that all those harnesses use has adhesive but it's very slight, just enough to keep it in place. I buy mine from Vintage connections along with all the matching equivalent white "non-latching" male/female connecting blocks and terminals/spades. They Don't unfortunately have any of that PVC sheathing big enough that covers wiring from under tank to headlight bucket though. I bought a huge roll of that years ago from an electronic surplus store in Kansas City, local to me.

Use almalgum tape. Sticks to itself but not the loom. 100 % waterproof overlaps and joints.

We've used black heat shrink tubing for solid harness sheathing where the sheen isn't important. It's not glossy like vinyl sheath, and has never shrunk during hours of summertime direct sun exposure.
The spiral harness wrap tape is called 'dry vinyl' tape. Sticks only to itself with no messy adhesive residue like typical electrical tape. Same type stuff used on long runs of bundled wires such as under tank and along frame rails. We bought some from amazon, but it's available from many vendors. Example:
