Sadly, NGK discontinued the old style plugs we need for our KZ bikes.  New version are "resistor" type, and many have a different type of end on them.  The originals had a threaded end, with an aluminum cap threaded on, which we remove before installing the plug cap.

I'm struggling a little to understand what you have.  Maybe post a photo?  And BTW, when posting photos, be sure to click "insert" before posting, otherwise the photo shows up as a tiny thumbnail.

These are the type you need (assuming you have the stock plug caps)

No, the cap you can remove is an adaptor for different plug caps - the resistors are built into the plugs (but only if the plug code has an "R" in it) Your B7ES would be BR7ES if they where resistor plugs

I bought BR7ES with removable caps just a few weeks ago. Not sure whether the resistor type is recommended or not by the gurus but it was my only choice

Conventional wisdom says resistor plugs are fine as long as the caps and wires are not resistor.

Yep, one or the other but not both.

I don't know if it's acceptable to use neither, though. Hmm.

Running neither works fine however if you are using any bluetooth devices etc the ignition will likely cause interference. In some countries supressed ignition is a regulation because of electronic interference
