Which ignition coil leads go where? - 1990 zephyr 550
30 May 2025 19:38
I just put in some new rings on a zr550 parts bike I have trying to bring it back to life. I don't remember which way the leads to the ignition coils go and the manual is no help. Each coil has a green and black input. There are two sets of wires that go to the coils, a green and red wire go to the right coil which feeds cylinders 2&3 and a black and red wire go to the left coil which feeds cylinders 1&4. But which way do the wires plug in? Do I plug the red wires into the green or black inputs on the coils? Does it matter?

Thank you!

Multi output coils aren't usually polarity sensitive so it shouldn't matter

All it does is change the direction of the current traveling from spark plug to spark plug. .......still sparks are produced at both ends, and as Wookie said,...it does not matter.
