No this isn't right, what is happening is the output from the turn signal switch is being channelled through the hazard switch. See below for diag guidance

I had a similar issue with my 77 KZ1000, it turned out to be a bad flasher on the 4 way flasher circuit. You might also check all of the grounds for the turn signals.

Harrold check this "possible" issue out. I do my share of those switchblocks and have often found the three wires that go to the brown breadboard shown are not fully soldered from the manufacture initially. Note the three little round areas on the breadboard shown don't even show solder on them and that's i took this one off. Sone of these styles put the harness thru the hollow of the handlebar and some routed on the outside. May or may not be Your issue but worth a close inspection of, directly related to your symptoms.

Haroldb

I had same problem a few years back on my 750. Hazard lights would not flash unless signal light first on. Solution was as asphalt900 described. I had to re solder the 3 wires at the breadboard - great name for that piece asphalt900  !. A fiddly little job it was. As far as a I remember, pushing in the hazard switch connected all 3 wires together .

I would recommend taking lots of photos of how the wires are routed. I marvel as to how they packed all those wires into such a small space.

Took it apart & everything is in tact, no broken solder, I’m thinking I might spray the inside with brake cleaner & dry it out & use some INOX spray.

A simple voltage reading at point "A" as I suggested would tell you in 2 minutes if the problem is in the switchgear or further back in the bike, once you have this reading I can guide you through pinpointing the source of the issue
