Hello my fellow enthusiasts!

This is my first post here, and sorry for my norwegian english beforehand.

i recently got my hands on the bike described in the topic section. our problem is that we had problems starting the bike. We followed the instructions of a diagram showing all wires and voltage and found out our igniter was broken. We got our hands on a new igniter and got the bike running afterwards. But later on our starter “sound/noise” seems a bit off and we get this weird clingy sound from the starter-motor.I will add a video for you to see and hear the sound I described.

the sound of the engine actually running are weird and we KNOW what this is, but we are more curious about the sound fromwhich the starter-motor is having.

please help!

please download video to hear sound.

If the starter motor seems to spin freely then suddenly engage the engine, or if the starter seems to engage ok, but sounds like somebody crushing rocks, the most common culprit is the starter clutch that lives behind the alternator. The much less likely but still possible problem could be the reduction gears inside the starter motor.

If you do not already have a factory service manual, you need one. Here is a pdf copy just in case…….
