Kz1000p Tachometer Bulb Cover?
06 Apr 2020 00:53 - 06 Apr 2020 08:08
Hello,
I'm looking for replacement bulb cover( I think that's what you'd call them) for my tachometer on my 2001 kz1000p. Somehow they managed to melt. Any ideas? It is a little thing that bothers me and it seems pretty expensive to buy a replacement tachometer. See attached pic .

Hello Marty,
Welcome to KZR!
Please try to upload the picture of your gauge again. Did you, by chance, use the back button while you were composing your post? I'm told that use of the back button confuses the forum software.

Do you mean the little colored lenses on the meter face or the rubber sockets that hold the bulbs?
Whatever it is, they shouldn't melt, so you may have a short or overcharging issue or something.
Police motorcycle wire harnesses are known to get hacked up by the city's vehicle service department.

Im talking about the colored lenses on the meter face. I got the tachometer off ebay so who knows what could have happened. It is all correct now. Any guess on where to get some parts.

There aren't any parts for doing that repair. It would be easier to get a replacement tachometer. The meters aren't intended to be opened, so that job is a bit of a chore >> removing & re-installing the crimp ring is no simple matter. Having said that, I seem to recall at least one guy who came up with his own homemade color lenses, but I don't recall what he used. or it could be that he re-glued the original lenses back in place. I don't remember. doh.
