1979 1980 KZ1000 Big Pin Crankshaft Rotor alternative

Anybody have a suggestion for replacement for the Big rotor used on 16 tooth center pin crank? This will be for a turbo so just to save some spinning weight. I want to use the stock stator cover or maybe the earlier 72-78 external winding stator. At this point it will be bump start so starter clutch not a big deal. Thanks Clay

Isn't the tapered end larger? I know the early KZ 1000's had no keyway so they might work. They all tend to get sloppy on it's axis so maybe with no starter they would last longer. I'm sure the early engine cover will fit but I suspect they changed it for better charging.

Early rotors won't fit because of the taper size but there may be enough meat in the rotor to enlarge it.
They use the same taper angle it's just the diameter that's bigger.
You could also fit a race alternator from Electrex etc which uses a very small and light rotor or maybe fit a toothed pulley to the crank and belt drive an alt from a modern pocket rocket.
I've done both with good results..
