You can jump start from a car battery without the engine running as the bike will only be drawing the current it requires. If the car is running then bike will be receiving car charge current which is normally higher than the bike can handle.

What is the reason you do not want to jumpstart a kz from a car?
What Warren-gt said, plus do not connect the jumper cables backwards as you could burn out a zener diode in the voltage regulator. Connecting a motorcycle battery to the bike backwards will also do the same thing >> it seems to happen more often than you'd think. not sure how some guys mess that up, but sometimes the wrong battery is purchased, having the battery posts reversed & they just install the battery blindly without checking what they're doing.
