what exactly am I plugging the ignitor to? the battery and the coils?

A simplified diagram is shown below. Check your service manual for a proper wiring diagram. This site has an archive of manuals for free download if you don't already have one.

If you're going to do a simplified wiring diagram, check out the bare bones for mattylight topic by loudhvx. There's a diagram for the 650-H1 CSR.
