Setting ignition points

Hi there, I'm writing from Uruguay. I would not want to make these long.
I've my first motorcycle proyect, a gift from my dad, a '78 Z200. The chassis came on a part and the motor and accessories came in two plastic boxes, so my job is to engage all these. Now that I've the complete motor assembly I want to make these run, but I don't know if I am with carburetor problems or if are the points. If I throw fuel on the cylinder by the spark it attempts very wrongly. And iam making a haedache with these.
If someone know some trick about these.
