28 Jan 2019 17:21 - 28 Jan 2019 17:22
Hi, Matthew Shaw from Maine. I recently bought a 79 KZ750 thats in really good shape, but the entire Dynamo system is gone. I have no idea what i can do to replace it, as i cant find any replacements anywhere for a 79. is there another year that is compatible? where can i find the parts? is there a conversion i can do? any help would be strongly appreciated.
Thanks!
Matt
Thanks!
Matt

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationis the stator rotor still on the shaft? 78 and later changed generator types from the early model. Three big compenents you need are: 1) An engine cover WITH OUT the three holes by the logo, 2) A stator assembly which mounts in the cover, and 3) the rotor which goes on the crank shaft. You will need some bolts as well. you can get all this on ebay. searching by the OEM part number can help. to match the rest of your bike you need a engine cover that says KAWASAKI instead of Kawasaki, they switched to the new logo in 1980 but those covers will work.

First off, thanks for the response. ive been tearing my hair out trying to figure this out and this pretty much solves it. I have the stator motor that is connected to the cover. My only other question would be how can i get all the right hardware to be able to put it all together, and do i need the electric starter for the rest of the system to work? i wouldnt think so but i could be wrong,
Edit: also, i have the cover with the original logo rather than the newer one. after comparing it to the cover i have, i cant see much difference in the two. is it a clearence thing, or something else?

the logo change was purely for aesthetics. take a photo of the left side of the engine to see whats there.

Okay so the Flywheel i bought looks like it will work, but the bolt that came with it is way to small for the hole in the crank. how can i find the right size bolt?
