Kz650 electronic Ignition

I apologize in advance for all the questions I've posted in the last view days but I've searched all over the place and can't seem to find answers.

Does anyone know if the stock electronic ignition from my '81 kz750 e will fit on my '78 kz650?

Maybe someone will say definitively but I think yes. you may have to file the pulsing coil plate or maybe enlarge the mounting holes. maybe not, though. You'll probably want the advancer from an 81-83 KZ650-CSR.

In addition to swapping the pulsing coil plate you would also have to switch the advance unit (most likely), coils, ignitor, and harness.

The only thing that would be worth checking is the advance curve. It is compatible with the 650 motor, then it is a direct swap.

As Martin said, there could be a little filing necessary on the mounting holes.

As Ed said, the coils would need to swap over as well as the igniter, pickup-plate, and advancer. In fact, other than the advancer's curve most of it should swap to a 550 as well, and vice versa.
