Hi all.

I have one of these and am using on a custom loom. Looking for confirmation of what the BLACK / BROWN and WHITE wire do as they don't tall with UK codes.

I know it's CHARGE / SWITCH / GROUND but which is which?

Many thanks!

It would really help if you would add your bike's year and exact model to your signature line. Not all rectifiers have the same configuration. As an example, the one on my 1977 KZ650-C1 has 5 wires (see image below). Ed

Hi.

My bikes a custom. The only thing on it that is regular is a GPZ750 engine and KZ650 frame.

The look is all new and bespoke - thus the question.

Is this just a rectifier or a reg-rec? Any other wires? And do you mean it has a black wire, brown wire & white wire, or a black-brown wire & white wire.

3 x yellow
1 x black
1 x white
1 x brown

I forgot to post the link - it’s an Electrosport model.

Can you post the Electrosport part number?

probably:
yellow = stator wires (AC current from the stator)
black = ground
white = power (DC voltage)
brown = voltage sensing wire. some modern reg-recs don't have the brown wire as the sensing is built into the circuitry.

So should I wire the brown in?

If so, to switch 12V+

I'm assuming the Electrosport reg-rec is wired the same as a Kawasaki oem unit. On most KZs there's a brown wire circuit from the ignition switch that powers various components, such as the horn & oil light, and there's usually a brown wire from that circuit going to the voltage regulator >> the reg-rec uses the voltage from the brown wire to sense the battery voltage.

If you haven't purchased it yet, there are 5-wire reg-recs that have the voltage sensing built into the circuitry, so there isn't a brown wire to bother with.

ps: If you don't have a manual, there's a good 750-4 pdf available w color wiring diagrams.
