I'm installing a mosfet R/R on my 78 kz1000 and mounted it behind the right side cover. Recently I read a story by RM Stator and they had it on the exterior of the bike up front and upside down.so I'm wondering does this thing generate that much heat? I would hate to ruin a new paint job, although it is where the ordinal R/R was mounted, and I'm wondering this before I build a wiring loom for it If my Idea has any risks as Ive had wiring burnouts before.

I've had no problems with it being under the side cover.

Thank You Steve, I kind of thought as such but It doesn't hurt to ask a dumb question. I'm waiting on Brown Santa to bring a new stator. I don't want to have to do this twice, when It comes to electrical its good to know whats between my legs. It doesn't appear to be able to fit under the battery, it looks the swing arm would take it out.
