Hello everyone
Does anyone know how to test a stator. and would anyone know what would happen if I accidentally got the leads going into the stator mixed up not the ones that bolt on but the other ones

Wire colors. Using the diagrams at partzilla for the 1980 KZ250-D1 & eebbaayy photos.
The stator has 2 yellow wires & the voltage regulator also has 2 yellow wires, so connect yellow to yellow & it doesn't matter if you mix them up, just so long as 2 yellow stator wires are connected to 2 yellow reg-rec wires. the stator produces AC current.
In addition to the 2 yellow wires from the voltage regulator, the reg-rec also has a red-white power wire, a black ground wire & a brown voltage sensing wire. just match up the colors when connecting. The ground wire from the harness might be black or black-yellow.
At the stator harness there may also be a light green wire for the neutral switch that might be routed thru the stator connector.
This light green wire has nothing to do with the charging system. Kawasaki routed it that way for convenience.
The wire looks white in some photos, but it should be light green.
