H4 bulb
15 Jul 2017 09:50
Had a 100/55 watt bulb lying around. Going to install it in my new headlight assembly. Looking at the factory wires makes my rethink the idea. So to solve the possible issue I'm just going to wire it through a Bosch relay straight off the battery. Then I will have no worries.

For sure do not run a 100w H4 bulb through the stock wiring. I did exactly that on my KZ650-C1 for a while many years ago. That 100w high beam (intended for off-road use) was great - it would light things up as far as the eye could see. However; I later found that it had fried one of the multi-pin connectors which I then had to replace. It could have been worse in that it could have cooked some wiring and maybe even started a fire. I was thinking exactly the scenario you mentioned!!! Factory wires are very light gauge.
