Here is one for a 750. I am not sure that the 550 charging system is identical, but this should get you in the hunt. Try using the search function on this forum.

That bare-bones-for-mattylight topic may have a wiring diagram for the 550 as the op knows a lot about the 550 & electrics. He has stock wiring diagrams on his site. see links in his signature.

Reg-rec. alternate voltage regulator --- late model Ninja 500 or Vulcan 500 to around at least 2009. the connector may be reversed, so the terminal pins & connector might need to be changed out.

Tools. get a ratcheting open barrel crimper & terminal pin extractor tool. CycleTerminal.com has the tools & connectors etc. Z1Enterprises.com has connectors & colored wire. CycleTerminal.com --- crimping help

ECT 005 open barrel crimper & ET120/123 terminal pin extracto. the set w white handles. is nice.

I'm not sure how "bare bones" you want to go, but this diagram for "Toolboy", might help you to get it to run, at least.

Read the valve train warning before going too deep into the motor.

Another thing occurred to me, while having discussions about Kz550 heads, and it probably applies to all of the Kz's using buckets.
It's been mentioned before, but maybe not emphasized as often as it should;
The buckets should be kept in whatever position they come out of. The safe way to do that is only have one bucket out at a time.

I have a few heads that were torn apart, and it will be quite a task to get all of the buckets back where they belong. Some mis-matches are just too tight and will probably cause the valve to hang open at higher RPMs.
