Timing, T or F?
10 Oct 2015 04:45
Just got a engine timing light and was able to set my points to the T mark, not sure if this is the proper "timing". I have a pdf manual for the 1980 kz650 but I cant find anything on setting it to the T or F mark. I also have the 78 kz650sr so it might not be the same if i did find something.

The F mark is supposed to align with the permanent case mark at idle rpm.
The F mark may appear in various ways.
Here are some examples of how the F mark may appear:
The T mark stands for "Top Dead Center" and when the T mark aligns with the permanent case mark, the pistons are at their highest positions inside the combustion chamber.
The T mark is NOT used for spark/ignition timing.
Only the F mark is used for spark/ignition timing.
Among other things, the T mark is used in connection with cam timing. which has to do with opening and closing of the valves.
Good Fortune!
