Surprising what a minute or two with the search box will turn up, eh?

Factory points coils were almost always 4 ohms. If you have a Dyna S ignition, you can go down to 3 ohms.
You can also use 3 ohms with points, but it will shorten the life of the points a bit since there will be more current.

Yes ohms ohms ohms.....brain freeze  from spending over an half hour with the search box and finding nothing, I find the search here the worst of any kind of site I use  With ignition more current always make me smile
No phone access at this time just Internet....Spent all of today working on trucks
Thanks for all the input, I will verify with Z1 before placing the order  I always like to sound like I know what I'm taking about...when asking about parts..... Even Z1 is nor perfect, but they strive to be and will make things right

If you are running points, these are your options:
In my opinion, this is your best option, but they are always out of stock:
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?i...zuki&item=EM24-72451
This is the Dyna 5.0 ohms.
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?i...DC10-1&item=DYDC10-1
This option will work, but will slightly lower point life.
Dyna 3.0 ohms.
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?i...9+DC1-1&item=DYDC1-1

As mentioned in earlier threads about this.... I am running two 3 ohm Dyna coils with points, temporarily right now, but, I also fabricated a ballast resistor from two, 4 ohm 50 watt Arcol resistors, wired in parallel for a measured 1.9 ohms.

Have stock point set-up.....
The link to the 3.0 Green DynaTek's is what I use on 2 1978 650SR's and I have had no problems...To me points are expendable just like plugs and if if shortened the life it's not enough to even notice
Thanks Loudhvx
Just checking that 1977's weren't some oddball set-up
Thanks to all
