No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationwww.kawasakiepc.com/SystemSearch_Frames....869&CFTOKEN=22015665

Then click on line #10 CHASSIS ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT ('77-'78 B1/B2)

Part # 28 on this drawing, called a regulator. What is it and where does it go?

Here's an ebay auction with a pic of one.....

Definitely a Diode, probably a voltage limiting one. So acts as a voltage stabilizer for your gauges is my thought. You Kawawsaki.com link is expired so it can't be viewed.
Diodes are like a one-way street for electricity, allows voltage in one direction only. But they can also limit/ stabilize the voltage on the circuit.

Kawasaki link works for me, must be a cookie thing...so only works with my computer.

Here's the drawing from BB....#28 at the bottom. I'm thinking it maybe goes on the blinker relay? When I got my bike it was just sitting in the slide out fender tray.

Motor Head : Take a look at my timing thread again, I posted some pics of what I think are the factory splices. B)

On some models there's a small 0.5 ohm choke they put in the lighting circuit. I'm not sure why, but I suspect to stop too much voltage getting to the headlight and blowing the bulb.

From a recent topic I saw somewhere, some bikes have a "Pass" button on the left handlebar control - when you press the button, the headlight dims or something & I think that part is what does the dimming. On some bikes the component is located under the tank near the coils.

Edit: here's the topic I saw - the part doesn't seem to be the same, though.

After some more thought, I believe it is a regular diode. Which goes in the Hazard Flasher Circuit. I don't see it on the wiring diagram, but believe it stops back feeding to the Hazard flasher can, when the turn signals are on. Pretty common on a lot of cars too. Are there some Spade terminals around the area of the side cover that houses your two flasher cans?

The flasher and hazard relays themselves have spade terminals.

I found this thread....at the end it shows a pic of that part installed. They eventually decide its for the hazard relay but the pic seems to show it on the blinker relay. At least on my bike the relay with the brown and orange wires is the blinker relay, hazard relay has the orange/green wires.

No biggie...just going thru my wiring and noticed it while looking at the harness parts drawing on Kawasaki.com. Then remembered seeing it in my fender tray and thought, "I wonder if that has anything to do with it" (voltage drop problem) but doesn't look like it.

Good find on that thread. It shows it connected correctly i believe.
Won't give you any Volt Drop, thats for sure. Least of your worries at the moment.

This is a diode in the positive wire between the tail lamps and the front running lights. It's found on most kz1000's. Mine is an '81 csr. In the parts catalog it's called a regulator, but in the wiring diagram it shows the symbol for diode. The part is missing on my bike - it's been removed and bypassed, so the red/blue wire is plugged directly into the red tail lamp wire. I'm having a problem - when I hit the brakes, front or rear, the head lamp dims. It's very annoying at night when riding. I found the part on eBay for $30. My question is: does anybody really know what the function is? No guessing please. I read the WM and they don't mention the diode in the text, but it is shown in all of the wiring diagrams. I'm just wondering if this is my cause of the dimming. Thanks.
