Dyna S?
17 Jul 2010 15:56
I have an 82 kz750 Not really sure which one it is. I know on the vin plate on the engine it has two E's after it says kz750. The guy I bought it from said he broke something on the advancer unit. it does not look like it to me but it looks old and so do the pick up coils. I have been looking at the Dyna S systems but do these come with their own advancer unit or do you have to use the factory one? I would like to replace these things just to make sure the bike runs great, but they want 150 for the advancer and the pick up coils. If the dyna repaces both than I will go that route. thanks.

Dyna-S uses the existing advancer.

NO... Go through a switched-to-on power... Ignition switch or bypass switch/coil mod (arggghhh :pinch:) but you don't want it powered in non running state of operations....

I will have to look again, but I believe they are still there. He said something about he broke a tab off of it, but I have looked at pics and the only two tabs I see are on the back and they seem to be in tact. I will put a pick up when I get a chance. thank you.

Look at the Dyna 2000 ignition. The kit you want is the DDK2-1C. It replaces all you want including the old mechanical advance.
I didn't think putting in a new ignition with an old mechanical advance was right. Also the Dyna 2000 is a CDI and not just a solid-state point replacement system.
Just put one in my 1975 KZ900. Its a fair amount of work.
