Main fuse blowing with turn signals
21 Apr 2010 21:36
Description says it all^
Odd thing is, the fuel light was flashing umtil 3 seconds later it all went dead. So if they are shorted together.... Where?? I cant see anything. I haven't tore it down yet though.
Kicker: I have to take my exam tomorrow to get my license. Otherwise, I would use hand signals.

I'd check the four bulbs and see if a filiment has broken and touching inside one of them.
I believe if your bike has front running lights in the turn signals that they will be #1157,with the rear ones #1156.
#1157 is also used in the rear brake and running(tail light) circuit.
Possible insulation damage can also cause fuses to blow.

Be sure to replace with a new fuse. Old fuses sometimes blow way below rating.
Turn signals are notorious for blowing fuses because the wires run in and make a right angle turn and can easily rub through the insulation and create an intermittent short.

Check your leads under the seat - I had the same thing happen about a month ago. One of the orange signal leads and the large white main ignition wire were crushed in the seat latch and then shorted on each other.

Thats what happened. My seat pinched the wires and grounded a hot wire. Thanks all!
