kz400 electric start
16 Nov 2009 20:19
Hi,
Is it possible to retrofit an electric starter into a 1975 KZ400S? I have a starter from a kz400D parts bike that I'd like to install into my kz400S.
Thanks

you will need the starter clutch and chain. the switch gear wiring and relay, but yes it will bolt in.

Do it right or don't bother doing it at all.

The starter clutch is not the easiest thing to put in, but it's easier than on the inline-fours.
You will also want the bigger battery box and battery from a D model.
